JOTA/JOTI Volunteers needed for October 2018

October is the time of year for Jamboree on the Air (JOTA). Amateur Radio helps the scouts get their communication badges in an organised joint event.

David Stansfield (G0EVV) has been approached to coordinate this year.  If you are able to help out from 08:00 until 16:00 on Saturday 20th October 2018 then we would love to hear from you.

As previously we will provide the activities necessary to achieve the communication badge. This is an opportunity to operate a Special Event Station where the Scouts send a greetings message, or to assist the Scouts to learn something about Amateur  Radio. This is an opportunity to go on the air and get experience. We run 3 stations on HF and VHF and tall about the phonetic alphabet and propagation with a little Morse thrown in.

Venue:  The House on the Hill, Hillhead Road, West Denton, Newcastle NE5 (just off A69) parking on site.

Let the secretary know if you would like to join in so we can get the numbers right.

International Marconi Day 2017

Last year we did International Marconi Day from Blyth Battery.

The World War II bunker allowed the club to transmit most of the day from the Northumberland Coastline.

After we found the remote location at the end of a car park we set up an aerial.

Inside some construction was in order.

Working with members of the Tyneside Amateur Radio Club we ran a small station for most of the day on VHF and HF frequencies.
